The Sweetest Part of Seoul Shopping: Dessert Pop-Ups at The Hyundai Seoul of Korea

 Welcome to Korea!

If you're visiting Korea, congratulations—you’re in for an unforgettable experience. And if your travels bring you to Yeouido, you're in one of Seoul’s most exciting and modern districts. There's so much to see and do here!

Start your day with a relaxing stroll or bike ride at Hangang Park, where you can enjoy river views, local snacks, and maybe even a sunset picnic. Then, head over to two of the best shopping and lifestyle spots in the area: The Hyundai Seoul and IFC Mall. Whether you're into high-end shopping, artful interiors, or trendy food pop-ups, these places have something for everyone.

On B1 of The Hyundai Seoul, right in the middle of the food hall, you’ll find what many locals call the Dessert Pop-Up Zone.

It’s a unique space where four dessert brands share one cozy area in perfect harmony. These pop-ups usually run for about two weeks, and each rotation brings in new bakeries and dessert shops, offering everything from delicate pastries to trendy sweets.

This time, the featured theme is the “Korean Master Bakers Exhibition.”
All four brands are led by certified Master Bakers of Korea, officially recognized under a presidential decree—a true honor in the culinary world.

If you’re a dessert lover, this is an experience you won’t want to miss.
🗓️ Available until May 15th

Here are the four featured brands:

  • Langcontre by Master Lee Seok-won – Known for refined French-style pastries with a modern Korean touch.

  • Ahn’s Bakery by Master Ahn Chang-hyun – A beloved name with a long-standing reputation for classic breads and seasonal treats.

  • Deokgyu Bakery by Master Kim Deok-gyu – Famous for its deep, traditional flavors and beautifully crafted loaves.

  • Baviere by Master Ma Ok-cheon – Offering elegant European-inspired desserts and pastries that are as stunning as they are delicious.

Baviere

Baviere is a bit different from the other brands in the pop-up — it’s widely available, even on online platforms like Coupang, thanks to its popularity. If you’re a fan of pie, this is the place to be!

Out of the four brands, Baviere is probably the easiest to find in stores, making it a go-to choice for those craving a classic, high-quality dessert.

But since the Master Baker himself brings these directly and bakes them on-site, you can be sure you’re tasting the authentic flavor straight from the original shop!

What’s even better is that, unlike online orders, you can purchase these treats individually at the pop-up. This way, you can sample the desserts first, and then decide if you want to order more online later!

Baviere’s original shop is located in Gwangju, but luckily, you don’t need to travel all the way there to enjoy their famous pies — you can have them right here in Yeouido!

They offer a wide variety of pies, including:

  • Maang Pie

  • Apple Maang Pie

  • Strawberry Maang Pie

  • Yuzu Maang Pie

In addition, you can try pies made with Korean rice, like the Blueberry Pie and Strawberry Pie — a unique twist on the classic flavors!

The best part? The prices are incredibly affordable, making it easy to try a variety of flavors without breaking the bank.

Among the desserts you can find at The Hyundai Seoul, these pies might just be the most affordable option!

In addition to pies, Mochi Rolls were also incredibly popular — a chewy, sweet treat that pairs perfectly with any of the other desserts.

Deokgyu Bakery

One of the highlights at Deokgyu Bakery is their famous Coconut Milk Bun — soft, fluffy, and subtly sweet with a creamy coconut flavor that keeps fans coming back.

What makes this bakery even more special is its exclusivity. There are no chain stores — the only location is in Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, in the southern part of Korea.

It’s even been featured on the popular Korean TV show “The Master of Living” (생활의 달인), which showcases truly exceptional food spots.
That’s why this Seoul pop-up is such a rare opportunity to try something you usually have to travel far for!

But it’s not just the Coconut Milk Bun that people are lining up for — their Garlic Bread is also a fan favorite, with its rich, buttery flavor and perfect crisp.

Normally, you'd have to travel all the way to Gimhae in South Gyeongsang Province to taste these treats. But lucky for us, you can enjoy them right here in Yeouido — no travel required!

🗓️ Available at The Hyundai Seoul until May 15 only.

Ahn’s Bakery

This spot is definitely drawing a crowd — and for good reason!
Ahn’s Bakery is especially famous for its Myeongran Baguette (Pollack Roe Baguette), a unique savory treat that keeps locals coming back.

The crispy, golden baguette filled with rich, slightly spicy myeongran (pollack roe) offers a flavor combination you probably haven’t tried before — and won’t forget once you do.

If you're curious about Korean-style bakery flavors beyond the sweet stuff, this is the perfect place to start.

You might even notice an oven inside the pop-up zone, which means many of the items are baked fresh on-site — you can literally smell the goodness in the air!

There was also a sampling corner, but it didn’t last long — with so many visitors, the samples were gone in no time. That just shows how popular and tempting these baked goods really are!

Langcontre

You can spot it from afar — just look for the bright yellow display that instantly catches your eye!
Langcontre is best known for its signature “Mango Mango Cake,” a vibrant, fruity dessert that’s as delicious as it is photogenic.

This bakery is usually only found in the southeastern regions of Korea, with locations in Gyeongju and Ulsan, so it’s quite rare to see it in Seoul. That’s what makes this pop-up so special — it’s a chance to enjoy Langcontre’s famous creations without leaving the capital!

If you’ve been looking for a special cake, now’s your chance!
You can buy Langcontre’s famous desserts right here at The Hyundai Seoul in Yeouido — no trip to Gyeongju or Ulsan needed.

Each cake is made with fresh mangoes and melons, delivered to the department store’s food hall early every morning. You can truly taste the difference in freshness and quality.

Here are some of their featured items:

  • ⭐️ Melon Melon Mini – 35,000 KRW

  • ⭐️ Mango Tart – 45,000 KRW

  • ⭐️ Mango Mango (Size No. 2) – 55,000 KRW

The Dessert Pop-Up Zone at The Hyundai Seoul changes every two weeks, offering new and exciting treats each time.
If you're visiting the B1 Food Hall, make sure to stop by — it’s where you’ll find some of the best-loved dessert pop-ups that even locals can’t resist!

In addition to the Dessert Pop-Up Zone, there are also plenty of other delicious desserts available throughout the B1 Food Hall. Whether you're in the mood for pastries, cakes, or unique sweets, there's something to satisfy every craving!

It seems like a new brand has recently opened at the B1 Food Hall of The Hyundai Seoul.

As I passed by, I couldn’t help but notice the crowd gathered around — clearly, it’s a popular spot already!

Classic Haerye Coffee

(Located near the Godiva Bakery)

It looks like a dessert cafe originally located in Seongsu has now opened at The Hyundai Seoul.

They’ve been promoting their Blue Ribbon Award for three consecutive years, which might be why there’s often a wait to get in!

Their specialty is the Churonut, a delicious hybrid of churros and donuts — a must-try treat for anyone with a sweet tooth.

The prices might be a bit on the higher side, but people were definitely buying these desserts in droves!

There are no chain locations — only the original store in Seongsu, so this pop-up is a unique chance to try it in Seoul.

If you're unable to make it to Seongsu or are looking for a dessert set, this is definitely worth a visit!
